The Emmys 2020 experience was out of the box, literally. It all began with host Jimmy Kimmel, opening the Los Angeles theater for the show, filled with celebrity cardboard cut-outs. Emmys 2020: Watchmen, Succession win Big
Hollywood’s first COVID-era award show received the pun-tastic name from Kimmel as well, the ‘Pand-Emmys.’
Which meant that the Emmys 2020, had various popular celebrities, taking part live, from their home-fronts or lounges.
So, Emmys 2020 highlights were as spectacular as the unique stay-home take of the show.
Schitt’s Creek won big with seven Primetime awards and nine Emmys over all in the comedy categories. Succession bagged five awards, including best drama series.
Winners and Highlights
The family drama, Succession, won the Outstanding Drama Series panel. After going head-to-head, with the likes of Schitt’s Creek, and Watchmen.
Up next, the Outstanding Supporting Actress category crowned the dashing Julia Garner, for her role in Netflix’s Ozark.
Following this, Billy Crudup took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award. He won this for his performance in The Morning Show.
After this, Andrij Parekh was the proud winner in the Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series category, for his HBO series, Succession. This series, of course, has come up multiple times to win multiple awards throughout the Emmys 2020.
And of course, the Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series award was in the hands of Jesse Armstrong, for Succession.
The flood-post on Twitter was for Zendaya, winning the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series, for her role in HBO’s Euphoria. She is the youngest actress to win this award at the age of 24.
Up next, Jeremy Strong bagged the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series award, again for his role in HBO’s Succession, a show which had already won multiple awards on this same night.
And for the Outstanding Competition Program, the Emmys 2020 award went to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
One of the highlights of the Emmys 2020, was Watchmen winning the Outstanding Limited Series awards, all of the Emmys for acting (2 nominees), writing, and of course, the limited series.
Following this, Uzo Aduba won the next award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie, for her role in FX’s Mrs. America.
Up next, the same reward for the Male category, was taken up by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II for Watchmen, a series on white domestic violence. He went on to dedicate this award to all black women in his life.
Unorthodox actress, Maria Schrader, won her Emmy for Outstanding Directing For A Limited Series, Movie Or Dramatic Special. Unorthodox is a popular Netflix series.
Moreover, Mark Ruffalo won the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie, for his role in HBO’s I Know This Much is True. The actor went on to give his heartfelt speech on diversity, racism, love, and the American Dream.
Furthermore, Regina King won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Watchmen.
The actors and actresses went on to flaunt their Emmys 2020 glam looks on social media. It was a star-studded affair, indeed.
