AMC is reopening its theaters next week with 15-cent tickets
AMC movie theatres is the largest chain of theatres across the globe. With nearly 1000 theatres operating globally, 661 are based in the United States. Since the rapid spreading of COVID-19 epidemic, AMC theatres have faced many business challenges and brought Hollywood to a halt.
AMC Plans to Reopen Its Theatres!
AMC initially limited the capacity of the audience per auditorium. But, AMC theatres has to shut closed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic. It had decided in June to resume its operations by July. However, massive spikes in the number of positive cases of coronavirus made it closed in compliance with local, state and federal directives. AMC sends emails to its customers on Wednesday about the detailed plan of its reopening.
AMC theatres have repeatedly delayed their openings till now. Now that businesses are slowly opening their doors again, AMC theatres plan to resume its business at more than 100 theatres in the US starting from August 20. The staff and guests of AMC theatre are required to wear masks and take protective measures on the premises. Visitors can bring their own mask, or they can buy it at the box-office for $1 each.
The chain of theatres has faced much criticism recently after its CEO Adam Aron suggested to wear masks but did not make them mandatory to wear for its customers.
They are planning to reopen two-thirds of locations on or before September 3. The remaining locations of AMC theatres will open after getting clearance from state and local authorities. In Europe and the Middle East, AMC has opened more than half of its theatres and is planning to open all by August 26.
September 3, The US Theoretical Release Date for Highly-Anticipated “Tenet”!
If some of the people are not willing to go to crowded places given the circumstances, AMC is providing MoviePass-style A-list subscribers to reactivate or cancel their membership until December 1, 2020. After December 1 2020, it begins charging again for the subscription service. This plan was put on hold due to the ongoing pandemic situation.
It is letting its users about the impending charges in advance, and its customers can cancel the membership at any time. The subscription service allows its users to watch up to 3 movies a week. Any changes further are communicated well in advance.
AMC guarantees that A-list pricing will remain unchanged and that there will be no increase in A-list price before late spring of 2021. It is also offering its customers a price intensive before new releases like Tenet. The highly anticipated release of the Tenet is on September 3 following Disney’s release of “The New Mutants”.
AMC is planning to limit seating capacity in its auditoriums. AMC theatres will take care of all safety precautions and will follow close cooperation with public health.
