Christopher Nolan’s Tenet Finally Has a Release Date
Here’s some good news for movie buffs. After being delayed thrice due to COVID-19 pandemic, Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited sci-fi thriller, Tenet, is all set to be released. Starring the popular actor’s John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, “Tenet” is ready to make its first international appearance on August 26 2020.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the movie will witness an unusual release strategy as confirmed by the Warner Bros Pictures Group. Before its release in the US, Tenet will be first launched in the international market in around 70 countries. It includes the United Kingdom and France, from August 26 onwards. It is only in September, most likely September 3, we can expect it to be broadcasted in select US cities.

The movie is facing unprecedented delays for its US launch because of less than 20% cinemas being reopened in total. Unfortunately, this low percentage includes only small and independent cinema chains. The large ones are yet to announce their reopening dates. For AMC, America’s biggest cinema chain, the reopening dates will be “mid-to-late August”. While Regal and Cinemark are yet to announce their resuming dates.

Tenet Launch Date:

Originally scheduled to be released on July 17, then changed to July 31, and later to August 12.  Delays in the release of “Tenet” had caused a massive blow to the nation’s movie theatres that were eagerly waiting to restart their business despite the coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic continues to proliferate, causing us to reevaluate our release dates,” said Toby Emmerich. He is the chairman of Warner Bros Pictures Group.

“We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for Tenet” he added.

With the majority of theatres closed due to the pandemic, the release of Tenet, of the big-budget movies, has been one of the most high-profile delays faced by the Hollywood industry. In such a case, the unveiling of the official release date of Tenet is a significant relief for the Hollywood industry.

The Pandemic Loss for Movie Theatres:

The movie theatre business is in major loss with the coronavirus pandemic. All the major theatres across the globe have been shut down since mid-March, taking the film industry by storm. According to reports, only a few countries have reopened their theatres with all necessary safety measures.

Many cinema halls have set out a capacity limit to maintain social distancing. While others have also implemented the required precautions to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus. However, the majority of the big ones haven’t received any notice to reopen.

The pandemic is a massive loss for the movie business with many employees losing jobs, and a delay in shootings and films launch. Many film productions might take recourse to usual release strategies, just like Tenet.

Delays in the release of Tenet has already left many fans disappointed. Hence, the news of its official release dates has also filled the viewers with great excitement. It is one of the most anticipated releases of 2020. Tenet explores the technique of inversion to play with the flow of time and space. Mulan, Walt Disney’s live-action is another excellent movie on the calendar for 2020, awaiting its release.
