Cricket Legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni Announced His Retirement!
Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday, i.e. 15th August. He announced his retirement posting a video on the Instagram handle.
“Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as retired”, wrote Dhoni in a post on Instagram on Saturday bringing his more than 15 years international playing career to an end as an Indian cricketer.
Certainly, Dhoni is the only skipper in history to win all three major International Cricket Council (ICC) trophies — The World Cup, the World Twenty20 and The Champions trophy. India lifted the ICC World T20 in 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 under his leadership. He is the first and still is the only captain till date to have won all three ICC trophies.
The 39-year-old last played in the World Cup 2019 semi-finals for India which lost to New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester and his comeback will be limited to IPL 2020 which starts on September 19 in UAE.
