IPL 2020: UAE Waits for Official Word From BCCI

The ongoing pandemic due to Coronavirus outbreak has halted and postponed all sporting events across the world. Gyms remain closed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. But sportspersons have not drifted away from their preparations. Sports centers were granted permission to conduct training sessions by official order of government authorities. This move provides athletes to stay fit and prepare for the competitive season.

As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 patients rises, major sporting events have been put on hold. The Euro 2020 tournament has been postponed until 2021.

IPL: Most Awaited Sport:

ICC cancels T20 World Cup this year due to Coronavirus pandemic. T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played in Australia in October-November 2020. It has been postponed to 2022.

The decision to postpone it was taken after careful consideration of all the options available. The main priority is to protect the health and maintain the safety of everyone. So, BCCI begins planning for Indian Premier League (IPL) to go ahead. Indian Premier League (IPL) is the world’s most exciting, popular and lucrative tournament everyone is waiting for.

UAE To Become the Venue:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to approach the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) officially to host this year’s IPL in UAE. Governing council chairman of Indian Premier League (IPL) confirms that BCCI is looking at September 19 to November 8, 2020, for the tournament in UAE.

Still, the board is yet to share more details related to it. After the confirmation, this will actively get into the preparation process taking necessary government approvals. There are many factors to consider in the time of present health crisis, including operations and logistics of hosting. Also, mass gathering undoubtedly is not going to be possible for this popular game.

Many cricket fans are excited to see such a prestigious tournament. Dubai is opening airports and allowing tourists. If people are travelling, then they need to carry a negative COVID-19 report which will keep you away from quarantine. Those who fail to provide the report will be tested with the help of arrangements made. All the players and stakeholders will need to download the DXB app to follow health and safety protocols in this critical situation.

Spectators:

BCCI will expect some flexibility to ensure fans at the venue. But a large number of spectators at the venue is still not possible. Currently, Dubai allows 30% to 50% occupancy with other safety measures. In malls and other places, the percentage of occupancy is slightly higher than that.

Therefore, we can expect a good number of spectators, but not as high as usual. Well then, are you ready to cheer for your favorite IPL team? Subscribe to our channel. We bring you all the updates about cricket regularly. Not only cricket but also about sports all across the world. So, stay tuned.
